We’ve hit a milestone! It’s an amazing 85 years since our family business opened its doors for the first time – and what a journey it’s been…
Williamson’s My Florist was founded by William Williamson in 1935 and is now a 4th generation family business.
You may know us as florists but in the beginning, we were growers, operating from a nursery site that now houses our Garden Centre. We became wholesalers in those early days, and moved into retail in 1940, opening our first flower shop Corstorphine, Edinburgh at a time when locals wanted to but couldn’t access locally-grown products in their high streets. The flower shop is still open, making us the oldest trader in town!
As you might imagine, we are really proud of our heritage and that we’ve grown to become one of the largest independently-run florists in the UK. We have achieved this by making sure we offer the best experience for you and yours when you buy from us; some things will never change!
As you can imagine, we’re feeling celebratory – so look out for some exciting new announcements to mark our 85th year! – Jim Williamson, MD
