Corsages and buttonholes for weddings and events
Special occasions call for special touches! Whether you’re attending a wedding, a prom or another event, an eye-catching fresh flower corsage will really finish off your outfit.
What is a corsage?
While people often immediately think of corsages as a small arrangement which is pinned to a dress or jacket, there is so much more choice available to you! Our advice is always to tell us about your event outfit in terms of both colour and style, so your bespoke flowers can be designed to complement your look.
If you want to tone with or contrast the colour of your outfit we can help guide you on which flowers will work best. Here are some corsage ideas that you may not have considered:
Wrist corsage
For a wrist corsage, we use non-bulky, fairly flat flowers, such as gerbera or orchids – or small flowers which can be built up, such as spray rose or carnations, lisianthus, freesia or dendrobium orchid. This means you can wear your corsage without it getting in the way and keeping it looking its best.
Body flowers
Really special options are full or half arm bracelets, which are constructed of wires with pearls or diamantes and metal leaves (rose gold is particularly popular just now). The wires are assembled first, and then fresh flowers, such as orchids and foliage are added later. We can also create fresh flower necklaces and chokers for weddings and events – a particularly stunning option with strapless dresses but we can make it work whatever the neckline or style. Again, we help you to select ‘flat’ flowers which are both stunning to look at and comfortable to wear.
Hair corsages
Fresh flowers make beautiful hair accessories for events. Combs can be arranged with your planned hairstyle to sit to one side, or to accent an up-do, while flower crowns or circlets can suit a boho feel but can also be elegant and timeless, depending on the flowers chosen to get the look you want. Flower and foliage hats or fascinators are other new ideas which can really accent your outfit and look super special.
Handbag corsage
If you don’t want to wear the flowers on your body or in your hair, this is another original way to enhance your outfit. You can choose to tone or contrast your handbag corsage with your bag, dress or outfit.
Buttonholes
A buttonhole completes the outfit of the groom and other male members of the bridal party (and many day time wedding guests will choose to wear one too). The groom can opt to have a slightly different buttonhole to make sure he stands out on his special day. Some men, if they don’t like wearing flowers, can opt for a pared down buttonhole with thistle, foliage or fresh fragrant herbs.
